The selection committee selected 22 candidates from 25 applicants, out of which eight candidates will receive scholarships from the Tibetan Department of Religion and Culture in exile.
The first batch of 17 Tibetans include 12 single and 5 married individuals from the Tashi Choling Tibetan Settlement and is scheduled to leave for Toronto on November 29, 2013.
The DVD contained concerns and appeals from Tibetan religious and political heads regarding the current situation of the Tibetan political prisoner.
"The reason why various man-made problems are increasing is due to lack of moral ethics," says Geshe Dorji Damdul, the director of Tibet House, Delhi, India.
