Kundeling Thupten is perhaps one of the most accomplished Ache Lhamo performers living today. A passionate artist and advocate of this unique Tibetan performing art tradition, he has performed in countless Lhamo productions over the past six decades, and has worked tirelessly in training exile Tibetan youth in the art. At age 80, Kundeling Thupten still performs on occasion and continues to teach Tibetan opera, a tradition which he fears could be lost in the future.
VOA Interviews: Sonam Dolma, Contemporary Visual Artist Known for her abstract paintings and sculptural installations, Sonam Dolma is possibly the only Tibetan female contemporary artist of her generation. She was born in Tibet, grew up in India and immigrated to Switzerland in 1973 at the age of 19. She says that abstraction of form allows her to experiment with her inner feelings and worldviews, and enables her to express them more easily. Sonam Dolma’s works have been exhibited at galleries in Europe and the United States.
