World's Largest Book on Display to Honor Dalai Lama's Visit


The King Library on Miami University's campus has put on display the largest book in the world, “Bhutan: A Visual Odyssey Across the Last Himalayan Kingdom” in honor of the upcoming visit by the Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama.

The book is certified by Guinness World Records as the largest published book in the world and measures 5x7 feet and weighs 133 pounds.

The Dalai Lama will be giving a talk on "Ethics in a Modern World" at the Maimi University Millet Hall on 21 October.

“Buddhism: An Exhibit in Honor of the Dalai Lama’s Visit” features books written the Dalai Lama, the Time Magazine cover featuring him, the Life cover on his flight from Tibet to India and more, reports the Oxford Press.

Miami offers Tibetan studies semester program for Miami students in Dharamsala where they can study at the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics and the College for Higher Tibetan Studies and take courses focusing on Buddhist philosophy, Tibetan medicine, meditation and an intensive sequence of language courses in Chinese, Tibetan and Hindi.
