Fear in Tibet After 2008 Unrest


Tibetans in Tibet still talk of “constant dread and suspicion” two years after the Tibetan unrest according to a report by Reuters. A young businessman who spoke to Reuters during a rare government organized visit to the region said the city remained oppressive and that “fear is all around.”

Many other Tibetan residents have spoken of their distrust of the government and the fear of talking about the March 2008 violence where peaceful protests led by Tibetan monks gave way to one of the worst violence the region had seen.

China have accused Tibet's spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama for orchestrating the 2008 unrest.Tibetans in Tibet remain secretly loyal to their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama who turns 74 next week.
