Thousands of Tibetans gathered at the courtyard of Tsuklag-khang temple, Dharamsala, north India on September 2, 2013 to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day. The event was presided over by Lobsang Sangay, head of the Tibetan administration in exile.
During this occasion, Sangay and speaker Penpa Tsering read the statement of Kashag, Tibetan Cabinet and the Tibetan Parliament in Exile. Sangay said “…we hope that the Chinese leadership will take note of the merits of this approach and resolve the Tibet issue, so that we can end the suffering of Tibetan inside Tibet.”
He further urged Tibetans to know the duties and responsibilities of a democratic society while exercising its rights.
