Tibetan Exile Leadership Launches Medicare

Dharamsala-based Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) lauched a Tibetan medicare system for Tibetans in exile Monday.

Head of the CTA Department of Health Dr. Tsering Wangchuk said that more than 5000 Tibetans are presently registered into the medicare system launched today.

Typically, a Tibetan family spends around 14% of their family income on medication, according to Dr. Tsering. The Medicare system is aimed at providing proper medical care to those in need of urgent medical attention and to relieve Tibetan families of financial burden due to medican needs.
