Tibetan Environment researcher hopes China's Scientist Expedition to Tibet will be neutral

Tsering Dhondup, a researcher at the Environment and Development desk of CTA hopes that China's planned scientific expedition to Achen Ganggyal ( Kekexili ) will produce a neutral report based on evidence that is endangering Tibet's ecology.

China's official Xinhua news agency reports that the expedition is the biggest since 60 scientists first traveled to the region in 1990. Research will be conducted in the field of geology, climate, ecology, environment, and archaeology. However Tsering Dhondup said that the previous expedition failed to produce a fact based scientific report. Dhondup hopes that the upcoming expedition will also look into the impact on the environment from large scale mining and infrastructure development. .
