Special envoy of the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama provided further clarification of his new role following the recent changes in the Tibetan exile governance system in an announcement on the International Campaign for Tibet website Monday.
In an interview with the VOA Tibetan Service, Lodi Gyari says he has ceased any involvement with issues relating to the Central Tibetan Administration after the Dalai Lama formally relinquished his political powers in May. Gyari said he will be continuing in his present capacity as the special envoy for the Dalai Lama for the dialogue process according to the statement.
"I will be continuing in my present capacity as special envoy of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for some time for the dialogue process, including leading our efforts in our talks with the Chinese leadership, with envoy Kelsang Gyaltsen," Gyari wrote.
Gyari has participated in nine rounds of talks with China but no major breakthrough has been achieved. Gyari in his statement said in the long run, the dialogue is the only sensible way to resolve Sino-Tibet problems.
