Sherab Tsedor Calls Off Indefinite Hunger Strike

Sherab Tsedor called off his indefinite hunger strike after 22 days on the morning of November 14, 2013 at Jantar Mandar, Delhi, India. Ms. Dolma Gyari, Home Kalon of Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala offered Tsedor a cup of orange juice to break the fast, which was started on October 24, 2013.

Dr. NK Trikha, chief convener of the Indian Tibet Support Groups: Mr. Surender, General Secretary of Gandhi Peace Foundation in Delhi: Kasur Tempa Tsering, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama; and executive members of many other groups and associations were gathered to witness the breaking of hunger strike at Jantar Mantar.

Kalon Dolma Gyari offered appreciation to Tsedor's selfless efforts to highlight the human rights violations in Tibet and to build international opinion against the Chinese atrocities in Tibet.

"The reason why I break my hunger strike was because I could not refuse the requests made by Home Kalon and Dr. Trikha." said Sherab Tsedor when asked why he called off the hunger strike.

He has lost over 13 kilograms in weight and internal infections were detected by the physicians.
