Rights Group Says China Bans Visits to Imprisoned Nobel Laureate

A Hong Kong-based rights group says the Chinese prison where Nobel peace prize winner Liu Xiaobo is held has suspended visits by his family.

The Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy also said that the laureate's wife Liu Xia remains under house arrest and cannot use the telephone, one week after the Nobel award ceremony in Liu's honor in Oslo, Norway.

Liu's brother, Liu Xiaoguang, told the Center that the Jinzhou prison in northeastern China formally notified the family of the suspension recently.
