Majority of the Tibetans living in Samyeling Tibetan Colony, Majnu ka Tilla, Delhi could not participate in the general election of India on April 10 2014. Polling station number 95 was arranged at TCV Day School in the Tibetan colony, however, out of 700 to 1000 registered voters, only 300 to 400 may have cast their votes.
"The regional office of election commission of this area couldn't process new voting identity papers for Tibetans born in India. Hence we could not participate the election," says colony leader Karten Tsering.
Tibetan colony comes under Chandni Chowk parliamentary constituency.
Delhi has 7 seats of parliament members and 12.7 million voters will elect their representatives.
In this general election of India, around 814 million voters will elect 543 representatives, and 12.7 million Delhi voters will elect 7 representatives.
