Estonia’s President Toomas Hendrik Ilves held an unofficial meeting Wednesday morning with Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.
The Dalai Lama also met with a number of MPs according to Thupten Samdup, representative of the Dalai Lama in Northern Europe.
The Chinese Embassy Tuesday sent a strongly-worded statement to the press reiterating China's opposition to any foreign leader's meeting with the Dalai Lama and warned that the meeting would harm relations between China and Estonia.
The meeting comes at the midpoint of the Tibetan spiritual leader's three-day visit to Tallinn. The unofficial meeting took place at the International Centre for Defence Studies, at which the Dalai Lama participated in a seminar.
This is the Tibetan spiritual leader’s third visit to the Baltic state.
