Hundreds of Tibetans gathered at Tsuk-lag-khang Temple, in Dharamsala, Northern India, to pray for and pay respects to Venerable Wangchen Dolma, the Tibetan nun who self-immolated on June 11, and succumbed to her burns on June 14 in Dartsedo (Kangding) hospital.

The prayer ceremony organized by the Central Tibetan Administration’s Department of Religion and Culture was presided over by Jado Rinpoche, the Lama Umtsey of Gyutoe Monastery.

Sikyong Lobsang Sangay, head of the exile Tibetan administration, paid respects to the family members of the deceased and also spoke about his recent visit to Lithunia, and the support Tibet campaigns are gathering at the International level despite the Chinese government’s repressive policies in the Tibetan region.

With Wangchen Dolma’s self-immolation, the toll of Tibetans who have burned themselves in protest of Chinese rule has risen to 119 since 2009.
