The 17th Karmapa Ugyen Trinley Dorjee addressed the Buddhist leaders and scholars from 32 countries gathered on second day of the 4-day Global Buddhist Congregation held in New Delhi.

Speaking on Buddhist understanding of environment and natural world, the Tibetan religious leader stressed the importance of a clear understanding of the nature of interdependence of all. He said the environmental problems are man-made problems, a result of human self-centeredness.

Many imminent Buddhist scholars from United States and India presented papers on the theme of environment.

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama is set to speak Wednesday at the Global Buddhist Congregation in New Delhi.

Indian officials say a meeting between Indian and Chinese diplomats has been cancelled after Beijing objected to a scheduled speech in New Delhi by the Dalai Lama.
