Israeli Police Disperse Palestinian Protestors at Holy Site

Israeli police have fired stun grenades at Palestinian protestors who threw rocks and firebombs at them at one of Jerusalem's holiest sites.

Police say riots began after Muslim prayers Friday at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem's Old City.

Authorities say several hundred Palestinian protestors, many of whom were wearing masks, attacked police after they entered the site to disperse the protests. Several police officers were injured.

The area where the mosque stands is known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary.
