Indian State Police Arrests Eight Taiwanese for Visa Violation


Suspecting them to be Chinese spies, Indian police arrested eight Taiwanese from a Tibetan monastery in Chauntra area of Mandi district. According to media reports, police arrested the men after having received intelligence input about suspicious activities. Athough spy ties have been ruled out after admiting confusion over the offical passport name of Taiwan as Repubic of China, the police are questioning the tourists for violation of visa norms and their failure to register at the local police station after arrival as per the law.
