Five of the Tibetan Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) based in Dharamsala, north India staged a mock G20 Summit on September 4, 2013 to urge the world leaders to press Chinese President Xi Jinping to talk on the Tibet issue during his first G20 summit in St. Petersburg, Russia. The five NGOs were, theTibetan Youth Congress, Tibetan Women’s Association, Gu-Chu-Sum Tibetan Freedom Movement, Students for a Free Tibet, and National Democrative Party of Tibet.

G20 summit stands for Group of Twenty Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors from 20 major economies of the world, including 19 countries and the European Union.

The two days summit would mainly be focused on the world economy and disagreements upon the Syrian conflict. However, the Tibetan NGOs are requesting the world leaders to take a united stand for Tibet, and to show respect for fundamental human rights by initiating a multilateral forum for Tibet.
