Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama left Dharamsala Wednesday to visit the ancient Ambaran Buddhist site in the northern Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Dalai Lama inaugurated a photo exhibition by Tibet expert Vijay Kranti and his photographer son Akshat Kranti at Kala Kendra in Aknoor.

The Archaeological Survey of India has discovered this ancient Buddhist site recently and is presumed to be of great historic and religious significance to Buddhists.

The meditation corners and discipline quarters are believed to be fully functional from second century to mid-sixth century attracting devotees from far and wide.
