Dalai Lama Meets Former President Bush

The Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan Buddhist leader privately met with former President George W. Bush and wife Laura at their Preston Hollow home Tuesday.

The Dalai Lama donated an early draft of what became the 1963 Tibetan Constitution which contained his handwritten comments and suggestions, to the Freedom Collection at the George W. Bush Institute.

On Monday, the spiritual leader received an honorary degree and delivered a guest lecture at the Southern Methodist University.

During his speech, the Dalai Lama said he had been waiting to meet President Bush again and called him a "very close friend."
