The Dalai Lama's Trust donated a token of Yen 10,000,000 to the Japanese Red Cross Society as contribution toward ensuring the speedy recovery of people affected by the devastating earthquake, tsunami and nuclear plant disasters in Japan.

The Dalai Lama's Representative for Japan & East Asia Lhakpa Tshokalso delivered contributions from the Tibetan community in Japan (¥ 412,000) and Gu-Chu-Sum Association (¥ 229,411).

Tshoko also conveyed the Dalai Lama's message to Japan, expressing deep sadness over the great loss of life and property in the tragedy.

The earthquake, which hit Japan on Mar 11, and its resultant tsunami had claimed more than 12,000 Japanese lives and left many people homeless.
