China's main official news agency has launched a 24-hour worldwide English-language television news network.
The project is the latest effort by the Chinese government to influence global audience perception of the communist nation.
Xinhua President Li Congjun was quoted as saying the new English-language network, CNC World, will present "an international vision with a Chinese perspective."
The new service will broadcast news, weather, feature stories and special bulletins in Asia, Europe, North America and Africa.
The agency says CNC World will be broadcast by satellite, cable, cell phone and the Internet. It will be available on cable television networks in the United States beginning October 1st.
