The Chinese authorities have started tightening the security environment in Drag-go county (Ch: Luhuo) of Sichuan Province, with military parades and deployment of tanks in the streets fearing that Tibetans might launch protests to commemorate the large protests that was held two years ago.

Tibetans were required to show identification cards, and the authorities had banned large number of Tibetans talking in cafes and restaurants.

Two years ago on January 23 2012, a large number of Tibetans protested in Drag-go county during which the Chinese authorities fired indiscriminately leading to the death of several innocent Tibetans, while few others were arrested and sentenced to different terms in prison.
