Central Tibetan Administration Announces Events for ‘Year of His Holiness The Dalai Lama

The exile Central Tibetan Administration stated that there will be 25 events to mark 2014 as the “Year of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.” At a press conference held in Dharamsala, India, the chairman of the organizing committee, Tashi Phuntsok, said that the year was being dedicated to the Dalai Lama in order to express deep gratitude for his remarkable achievements for the cause of Tibet and the promotion of his ideals of non-violence and human values. .

The chairman went on to say that 25 events will be organised by Tibetans across the world to celebrate the year, and that all five departments of the Central Tibetan Administration will participate in the events and festivities.

The organizing committee is planning on bringing Nobel Peace laureates to Dharamsala and Delhi on October 2nd to mark Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday and to express appreciation for the Dalai Lama’s commitment to promote non-violence and dialogue to resolve conflicts.

Apart from the chairman, the committee is comprised of Topgyal Tsering, secretary of Education, Chime Rinzin, Additional secretary of Home Dept, Tenzin Lungtok, Additional Secretary of Religion and Culture dept and Thinley Palmo, deputy secretary of Health Department.
