An international gathering of Tibetans and Chinese was recently convened in New York to exchange views on issues relating to Tibet. One of the context of the meeting was in part the current stalemate in the Sino-Tibetan dialogue process. Some of the Chinese scholars in attendance expressed skepticism about achieving substantive results from such a dialogue process without first a major democratic reform taking place in China. This week's Tibetan TV call-in show Kunleng host a discussion of these perspectives with Tibetans who attended the conference. The show includes a pre-taped series of interviews with Chinese scholars on the Tibetan issue.

Join us each week for Kunleng- a 60 minute new magazine TV show from VOA Tibetan. Each program features an in depth look at the top stories of the week and a discussion segment. We invite experts to talk about important issues of the day of interest to Tibetans and we invite you to call in with your questions or comments.

Kunleng is simulcast on television via satellite, on shortwave radio, and via the Internet in real time. Tune in every Wednesday at 1400-1500 UTC, 10:00 pm - 11:00 pm Lhasa time.
