Dalai Lama’s Envoys Return to India - 2004-09-30


The Dalai Lama’s two envoys Lodi Gyaltsen Gyari and Kalsang Gyaltsen and two senior assistants Bhuchung Tsering and Sonam Dakpo have returned from Beijing this morning, they are in Delhi.

According to sources, they will not make any statements until they brief the Dalai Lama, who is currently Latin American countries. The Tibetan spiritual leader is scheduled to return to India on Oct .10th from Mexico.

The Tibetan delegation had begun their current visit to China, with a visit to Nyarong, Kham, eastern part of Tibet, the birthplace of Lodi Gyari, the head of the delegation. From there they went to Beijing and met with concerned Chinese officials for discussions. No other detail is available. This is their third visit to China and Tibet. Lodi Gyari and his three colleagues had been in China since September 12 and had returned to Delhi on September 30. Gyari and his colleagues have come “to facilitate what we hope will become full-blown negotiations between the authorities in Beijing and His Holiness the Dalai Lama,” Thubten samphel, spokesman for the Tibetan government-in-exile told Reuters News Agency
