Kalon Tripa Opens a New campus for Nyingtop Ling, Home for the Handicapped Tibetan Children - 2004-05-13

Kalon Tripa Samdhong Rinpoche, the chief executive of the Tibetan government-in-exile, inaugurated a new campus of the Nyingtop Ling, a home for the handicapped Tibetan children near Dharmsala this Wednesday. Among the dignitaries Dr. Anne Ahonen, Consular at the Finnish Embassy in New Delhi also attended the opening ceremony because of that country aid to the Tibetan handicapped home. Ms. Nagawang Lhamo, who founded the home in 1996 with seven children and four staff members, says she is inspired by the support and encouragement she has received over the years and the home is now resident to more than 40 handicapped Tibetan children. She says that the Home’s goal is to make the handicapped children self-reliant.
