Former Tibetan Political Prisoner Leads Protest in London, Observing March 10th Anniversary - 2004-03-08

Tibetans and Tibetan support groups staged a demonstration at the Chinese embassy in London and from the embassy they marched to the 10 Downing Street. The march was led by former Tibetan political prisoner Takna Jigme Sangpo who was released from Chinese prison a couple of years ago. Mr. Sangpo says he was thrilled to be in a free country and participating in March 10th demonstration. He also appealed to the world community to help free other political prisoners in Tibet. Mr. Thupten Samdup, organizer of the March 10th event, says the demonstrators presented a letter to British Prime Minister Tony Blair, urging him to meet with Dalai Lama when he visits Lond in May and also support the dialogue between Dharmsala and Beijing.
