Dalai Lama Talks about the Importance of Non-violence - 2004-02-29

Dalai Lama was welcomed this morning by hundreds of residents of Mandi City, a city that was blessed by Guru Padmasambhawa, the India Buddhist scholar who came to Tibet to teach in particular Tantric Buddhism. The Tibetan leader talked about the importance of Mahatama Gandhi’s non-violent philosophy and that India should preserve and promote this important philosophy. The Dalai Lama said that this philosophy has been the best vehicle to achieve political objectives, citing Dr. Martin Luther King’s civil rights movements in the United States and Nelsom Mandlea's campaign for equal rights for the blacks in South Africa.
