Dharmsala Reacts to Chinese Ambassador’s remark on Tibetan Refugees - 2003-11-18

A Tibetan spokesman for the Tibetan government-in-exile reacted to the Chinese ambassador in Nepal’s remark on Tibetan refugees, calling the Tibetans illegal immigrants.

Ambassador Sun Heping told reporters last Friday in Katmandu that there is no refugee problem between China and Nepal, but those who been creating problems are illegal immigrants crossing over to Nepal and China will take the necessary steps to stop the illegal immigrants. Mr. Sanam Dagpo, spokesman for the Tibetan exiled government told reporters in Dharmsala that China is the source of the Tibetan refugee problems because of lack of fundamental human rights in Tibet. So the Tibetans were forced to flee.
