Tibetans in Dharmsala Observe Lha Bab Duchen - 2003-11-17

Tibetans in Dharmsala observed the Lha Bab Duchen, one of the four major annual Buddhist festivals commemorating significant events in Shakyamuni Buddha's life. This day recognizes the Buddha's return to his followers on earth after teaching his mother in the divine realms.

On this day Tibetans devote their time for religious activities of praying, visiting temples, giving alms to the poor. This religious festival is as important as the Saka Dawa during which time Tibetans devote a lot of their time to religious activities and try to abstain from eating meat.
