U-S Senate Resolution on Dalai Lama Introduced - 2003-08-11


Pema Dorje, based on an interview with Bhuchung Tsering, Director of the International Campaign for Tibet, and on the full text of Senate Resolution 212, reported on the introduction into the Senate of a resolution in support of the Dalai Lama’s efforts and commitment to non-violence. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Sam Brownback and Joseph Biden have introduced a resolution welcoming His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Washington, DC, in September and recognizing him for his commitment to non-violence, human rights, freedom, and democracy. The Dalai Lama will meet with key US government leaders, including President Bush during his September 9 to 11 visit in DC. He will also bestow the International Campaign for Tibet Light of Truth Awards for 2003.
