China Releases Monk serving Seven years’ Sentence - 2003-07-31

Tibetan stringer Tsering Migmar reported that China released on July 28 Luzi Tashi Phuntsok who was serving seven years imprisonment sentence in Yakra Phuk Prison in Eastern Tibet. There is no official explanation for the release, but Dharmsala-based Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy says Tashi Phuntsok has been suffering from tuberculosis and that his condition has worsened in the jail. Phuntsok was accused of colluding with Buddhist teacher Trulku Tenzin Delek, who has been sentenced to death for his alleged involvement in several bombings.
