Tibetan Job-Seeking Migrants Face Many Problems in City - 2003-07-31

Tibetan stringer Gedun Rinchen reported that Tibetan migrants from the country side who come to Lhasa, Tibet’s capital, face numerous problems, such as finding a job and a proper accommodation. Tibetans say these young Tibetans come to Lhasa looking for better opportunities find themselves being cheated by construction employers who do not pay them properly. There is also a shortage of affordable housing. These migrants cannot afford to rent an apartment that is 400 Chinese RMB a month. And the job market is also tight.
