Indian Prime Minister Reiterated That There is No Change in New Delhi's Stand on Tibet - 2003-07-24

Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee reiterated that there is no change in New Delhi's stand on Tibet. He was speaking to the Lower House of the Indian Parliament on his recent visit to China. Mr. Vajpayee assured the Indian lawmakers that there was no change in the decade-old policy of the Indian government that Tibet Autonomous Region is a part of the People's Republic of China and added that he had said nothing new about the presence of H. H. the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan refugees in India. He says that with the opening of the Nathu La Pass as a point for Sino-Indian border trade, Sikkim will gradually cease to be an issue between India and China.
