U.S. Senator Feinstein has withdrawn her support of preferential legislation that sought to allow duty and quota free market access to Nepali garments in the US. Feinstein cites Nepal’s handling of 18 deported Tibetans as the main reason. The Garment Association of Nepal has urged Prime Minister Thapa to do what he can to prevent the ousting of the bill from the US Senate. And Oakland travel author Jeff Greenwald has recommended Americans avoid travelling to Nepal, in order to protest the country’s handing back Tibetan refugees to the Chinese.
