Tibetans and support groups held demonstrations at Nepalese Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Nepalese consulate in New York City for handing over 18 Tibetan refugees to Chinese officials in Katmandu last Saturday. The Tibetans were deported to Tibet against their will. This action by the Nepalese authorities prompted protests by the United States, the United Nations Human Rights Commission for Refugees and other human rights organizations.
