Tibetan Teacher Convicted of Bomb Plot Defended by Student - 2003-05-20

Based on information from the Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy in Dharamsala, the Tibetan Information Network, the New York Times, and a recorded interview our Kathmandu stringer, Gedun Rinchen, had with Lodoe Drimed (a long-time disciple of Tulku Tenzin Delek)—reported that Chinese targeted for prosecution Tibetan religious leaders who had the ability to influence the local Tibetans in Tibet. Tulku Tenzin Delek’s disciple says that his teacher is not one who would encourage Tibetans to acts of violence. He says that his teacher was targeted by the Chinese because Tulkul Tenzin Delek always fought for the equality and rights of the Tibetans.
