The Kalachakra Organizing Committee met with Toronto City Council members last week and briefed them with the Dalai Lama next year’s proposed visit to the city. The committee asked for $one million from the city and the province to support an event expected to draw 10, 000 people. Gelek Gyaltong who briefed the council members says that with the city looking rebound from hit on tourism from the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome, several city councilors spoke warmly about the visit --- worth an estimated $35 to 53 million in economic value to the city.
