Tibetan stringer Tsering Migmar reported that Chadrel Rinpoche, a Tibetan lama who was in charge of searching the reincarnation of the Panchen Lama, is under house arrest south Dib military camp in Lhasa. In 1995 Chinese authorities arrested and him after discovering that he had contacted the Dalai Lama concerning the selection of the reincarnation of the late Panchen Lama. He was sentenced to six years of imprisonment some where in China. In January 2002 upon completion of his six-year-term, Chinese government announced that he was released; however, no one has actually received news of his whereabouts.
