Dalai Lama Says He Hopes to Send His Envoys to Beijing for Talks - 2003-04-08


Tibetan stringer Tsering Wangyal reported that answering a reporter’s questions the Dalai Lama said that he hopes to send his envoys to Beijing for talks either at the end of this month or the beginning of next month. The Tibetan leader who is visiting New Delhi repeated his desire for Tibet to have genuine autonomy within China. He also said that he hopes the culture and spirituality of Tibet and its traditions can be preserved. The Dalai Lama sent his special envoys to Beijing and Tibet last September, the first such meeting between the two sides in nine years.
