China  Release American-based Woman after three Year Sentence for Falun Gong Activism - 2003-03-20

A Chinese-born New York City woman imprisoned for publicizing details of China’s crackdown on the Falun Gong was released Wednesday after serving almost three years. Teng Chunyan returned to China after the government banned the Falun Gong in 1999 as a threat to public safety and communist rule. Teng help Falun Gong members to meet with foreign reporters and as a result she was arrested May 2000.
