China Arrests More Tibetans in Kham Area - 2003-03-12

Two Tibetan businessmen have been detained by Chinese authorities, apparently on suspicion of leaking information on the torture and trial of other Tibetan activists. Human Rights Watch reported that in Mid-February Chinese authorities seized the two businessmen, Didi and Tabo, in Lithang, eastern Tibet. “The crackdown in Lithang may be bigger than we know, and the authorities evidently don’t want the international community to find out,” Brad Adams, executive director of the Asia division of Human Rights Watch.
