Dalai Lama Says His Envoys Might Soon Meet with Chinese Counterparts - 2003-02-06

Tibetan government-in-exile is in contact with Beijing despite China’s execution of a Tibetan activist Lobsang Thondpup last month. The Dalai Lama told BBC News, “My special envoys and the Chinese officials may meet again in the next few months… Eventually, if possible, I would also like to invite Chinese officials to visit Dharmsala so they can see for themselves the situation here at the Tibetan community in exile.” Last September the Dalai Lama’s special envoys Lodi Gyari and Kalsang Gyaltsen visited China and Tibet for three week during they met with Chinese officials in Beijing and Tibetan officials in Tibet.
