China Rejects Tibetan Monk’s Death Sentence Appeal - 2003-01-27

Chinese court has rejected the appeal of a Tibetan monk who was given a suspended death sentence after being convicted of a series of bombings. China’s official Xinhua news agency said that Sechuan’s Higher People’s Court upheld the sentences of death with a two-year suspension given to Tenzin Deeleg Rinpoceh last December. Tibet support groups and other human rights organizations have campaigned for the withdrawal of death sentences given to the monk and his aid Lobsang Thondup.
