Tibetans in South India Urge China to rescind the Death Sentences for Two Tibetans - 2003-01-22

Hundreds of Tibetans staged a 24-hour hunger strike in Bangalore, south India, urging China to rescind the death sentences to two Tibetans who were accused of bombing incidents. A Chinese court in Schewan province sentenced Tenzin Gelek Rinpoche and his aide Lobsang Thondup to death. The Tibetans also appealed to the United Nations and the United States for their intervention.
