Dalai Lama Says Middle Way Approach Benefits Both China and Tibet - 2002-12-17

The Dalai Lama told thousands of Tibetans tuesday in Mungod that since the re-establishment of contacts between Beijing and Dharmsala the efforts must be focused on building mutual trust and confidence. He says although China’s policy towards Tibet has not basically changed, the attitude of the Chinese leadership is more friendly and non-condescending. The Tibetan leader says his Middle Way Approach does not seek independence or separation from China, but a genuine autonomy for greater Tibet, three major regions of Tibet.
