A Tibetan human rights group says a Tibetan prisoner has died after being tortured in a Chinese labor camp.
The India-based Tibetan Center for Human Rights and Democracy says Lobsang Dhargyal, 35, died earlier this week in the labor camp in Eastern Tibet, Lobsang Thargye was arrested last year for putting up pro-independence posters and was sentenced to 16 years imprisonment.
The group says it is certain the prisoner died from torture and ill-treatment, noting that several other prisoners died in similar circumstances.
China has not commented on the report. Beijing has ruled Tibet since 1951 and has been accused of trying to eliminate its Buddhist-based culture.
