Dharmsala Welcomes the Dalai Lama after His Visit to Mongolia - 2002-11-12

Tibetan exiled government officials and the public welcomed the Dalai Lama after a week of his trip to Mongolia. The Tibetan leader returned to India via Tokyo, and during his stopover in the Japanese capital, Japan’s vice minister of the cabinet office, Kenzo Yoneda, met the Dalai Lama at a hotel near Tokyo’s Narita Airport. China had warned Japan not to allow the Dalai Lama to make the stop over. Mr. Yoneda is the highest-ranking Japanese official to meet the Tibetan leader, according to Kyodo News Agency.
