High-level delegation of the Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, has arrived in Beijing. The delegation, headed by Mr. Lodi Gyaltsen Gyari, special envoy of the Dalai Lama in Washington, D.C., and Mr. Kalsang Gyaltsen, the Dalai Lama’s envoy in Europe, will also visit Lhasa, Tibet’s capital. Tenzin Geyche Tethong, private secretary to the Dalai Lama in Dharmsala, says at the moment he has nothing more to add to the press release that was issued by the office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Dharmsala. VOA Tibetan Service reporter Pasang Yangkyi called the Chinese embassy in Washington, D. C., and the press officer said he knows nothing about the delegation’s visit. This is a first high-level Tibetan delegation to visit Beijing since the formal contact between Dharmsala and Beijing was cut off in the early 1990s.
