Head of  Tibetan Office in Katmandu Released by Nepalese Police After  Several Hours of Detention - 2002-09-04

Nepalese Security officials took Mr. Wangchuk Tsering, representative of the Dalai Lama, and detained him for several hours at the Security Office yesterday. The purpose of his detention has been to prevent him speaking at a gathering of Tibetans who were marking the Tibetan Democracy Day. Recently the Nepalese government has imposed more restrictions on Tibetans living in Nepal.
